Frequently asked questions - Everything you need to know about PER

The PER course has different modalities depending on whether you choose the in-person or online option. Extensions and sailing qualifications are also offered with several OFFERS.

No, to obtain the title of Recreational Boat Skipper you must be of legal age. You can start studying the theoretical part or do the internship before turning 18, taking into account that once you pass the exam you have a maximum period of 24 months to apply for the title.
When choosing which of the two degrees is best for you, you need to understand what thedifferences between PER and GNP regarding length limits and maximum distance to the coast.

It depends directly on your availability and involvement with the test: the advantage of online PER course is that it allows you to adapt your studies to your pace of life, with the constant support of one of the school's teachers for any questions that may arise.

To pass the Recreational Boat Skipper exam you must internalize the PER official agenda, organized into the chapters Naval Terminology, Maneuvers, Safety at Sea, Navigation, Meteorology, Radio Communications, Mechanical Propulsion and Legislation.

Although if you prepare the exam on your own you can dedicate as much time to it as you want, with an approximate dedication of between 7 and 8 hours a week it will take you around a month to study the entire syllabus.
Yes, in fact our recommendation is to make the theoretical part compatible with the completion of the mandatory practices (and, where appropriate, the complementary ones) to obtain the title of Recreational Boat Skipper as soon as possible.

If you already have the title of Basic Navigation Pattern You have an important advantage when it comes to obtaining the PER, since half of the syllabus is validated. Check the possibility of taking a bridging course that will make it easier for you to achieve it.

Yes, the PER is valid for 10 years, except in the case of sailors over 70 years of age, who will have to renew it after 5 years.
