We have a port fin and a starboard fin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deck<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>He <strong>boat floor on top<\/strong>, through which the crew and passengers pass, is also the closure of the interior structure of the boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bordeaux and candlesticks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Piece of <strong>protection located between deck and gunwale<\/strong> which prevents accidental falls into the sea. On small boats and sailboats it is replaced by protection bars with a cable called stanchions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Give away<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Top of the gunwale<\/strong> which runs along the boat from stern to bow and is covered by a decorative piece called gunwale cover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bathtub<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is known as the <strong>deck area where the controls are located<\/strong>, the log, the wheel <a href=\"https:\/\/anclademia.com\/en\/blog\/rudder\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/anclademia.com\/blog\/timon\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rudder <\/a>and seats for the crew, as it is the safest area of the boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">waterline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>imaginary line that <strong>separates the submerged part of the boat from that which remains out of the water<\/strong> and that may vary depending on its load. Additionally, the line painted on the side of the boat can be called the waterline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Live work (careen) vs. dead work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The living work, or <strong>hull, is the part of the boat that remains submerged<\/strong> inside the water, usually treated to prevent the proliferation of algae or mollusks. On the contrary, the <strong>Deadwork is the part of the ship that is above the waterline.<\/strong> and, consequently, out of the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Helmet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exterior area of the boat<\/strong>, which gives it shape and contains inside the rest of its parts, part of which is under the water and part above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We can compare it with the <strong>ship&#039;s spine<\/strong>, the central piece that provides stability to the entire structure. Built of wood or steel, it is the lowest part of the hull and runs from bow to stern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stem<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Extension of the vertical or oblique keel, which is placed at the front of the boat to <strong>form the bow of the ship<\/strong>, joined to the keel by a piece called the stem foot. It is in charge of <strong>collect spilled water and oil<\/strong> anywhere on the boat and evacuate them to the outside using the bilge pumps installed for this purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boat bottom floor<\/strong>, immediately above the keel and bilge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bulkheads<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Partitions that form the <strong>interior divisions of the <\/strong>vessel and which can be longitudinal and transverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Length<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boat size<\/strong>, measured in feet lengthwise from bow to stern. One foot corresponds approximately to 30 centimeters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">waterline length<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It depends directly on the floating surface of the boat, since it refers to the <strong>waterplane length<\/strong> measured between stern and bow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sleeve<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boat width<\/strong>, especially in the widest part of it, which normally coincides with the master frame and is known as the maximum beam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boat height<\/strong>, measured vertically from the underside of the boat at the point where it coincides with the keel to the line of the main deck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Draft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Height of the part of the ship that is submerged<\/strong> in water. It can be measured taking the bottom of the keel and the waterline as references.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freeboard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Measure the <strong>distance between the ship&#039;s waterline and the highest watertight deck<\/strong> and indicates its buoyancy reserve, which means that if water penetrates above this value, the boat will sink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although different types of boat have different parts (a yacht is not the same as a sailboat, to give just two examples), there are some parts that are common to all of them.
